Market City Site
The site currently comprises in excess of 111,000m² net lettable area within the CTA, Warehouse and Commercial Centre buildings. The Central Trading Area is the main selling area for fruit and vegetables consigned by growers to merchants who sell to supermarkets and stores throughout the state. Produce is also consigned to the other markets around Australia depending upon demand and price. Warehouses are occupied by Central Trading Area tenants for coolroom storage, ripening rooms and storage of hard produce lines. Warehouses are also tenanted by secondary wholesalers who process orders for country stores and smaller metropolitan outlets. Value adding business (processors), meat and fish auction businesses also occupy tenancies at Market City.
Tenant Vehicles And Staff Parking
Commercial Vehicles operated as part of the business of the tenant will be issued with a permit to park in the loading zone adjacent to the tenancy. The vehicle must be actively involved in the movement of produce.
Staff, Tenant, Employee and Non Commercial Vehicles must be parked in areas set aside for staff parking. All staff working on site who wish to bring their vehicle into Market City are required to have a permit to park in a nominated staff area unless other approved arrangement have been made.
Visitor parking is restricted to two small areas in the buyers carpark. Further parking is permitted in the Market Square Parking Area that has a 3 hour maximum free parking.
The Market Administration Visitor Parking area is available to visitors to the Authority Administration building and Conference Room and is located to the west of the market administration building. Access is from either the Market Square entrance or the Shell Service Station entrance off Bannister Road.
Persons requiring a permit to bring, park or load a vehicle in the market as detailed within this information sheet must apply to the Authority office.
Permit dash cards where issued must be displayed on the vehicle dashboard or front window whilst the vehicle is within the market site.
